One of the most famous German serial killers in literature was Simeon Fleischer. Born in Fulda, Simeon Fleischer trained as a wool weaver and had a special talent for wrapping women around his finger. In Marburg, he met a young woman whom he married. His father had given him 160 guilders so that the two of them could build a life together. But the money was quickly spent, and what had initially seemed like great love turned out to be a passionate flash in the pan that had fizzled out after just 20 weeks. Since Simeon Fleischer didn’t waste any time, he promptly killed his wife and sold her clothes. With the money from the sale of the clothes, he moved three miles away, where he met a 40-year-old widow, whom he also married. The marriage lasted less than four weeks. Then he killed her and took her savings of 40 guilders. He quickly fell in love with the daughter of a farmer from the county of Hanau. Although he married her too, he did not kill her, but simply abandoned her. After that, his next victim was quickly found in the daughter of a tailor. But she was less fortunate than her predecessor, because shortly before Frankfurt, the couple’s new place of residence, he killed her and took her 12 guilders. With this money, he enjoyed himself in Frankfurt, where he soon married the widow of a rope maker, whom he killed after nine weeks and made off with 39 guilders. Simeon Fleischer was a passionate and, above all, murderous marriage swindler whose trail of blood stretched across the Palatinate. He married 31 times in six years and killed 19 of his wives. Why he did not kill all of his wives will probably remain a mystery forever, as he was actually caught and sentenced to death by impalement. On January 18, he was impaled in Neustadt, with red-hot tongs tearing pieces of flesh from his body and pinching off his hands and feet. The execution lasted three days. Then his last breath was exhaled. Thus ended the life of the murderous marriage swindler Simeon Fleischer, whose existence is not historically documented.
